About Vallerie
Vallerie Hancock, PhD, LPC, ACS
Vallerie brings over 14 years of clinical and teaching experience to her role as Clinical Supervisor. She is a faculty member at Grand Canyon University, teaching graduate‑level courses in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Psychology. She holds LPC licensure, AZBBHE Clinical Supervisor approval, and the national Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) certification.
Vallerie's background spans forensic psychology, evidence‑based therapy, and diverse populations. As a university professor, she intuitively knows how to teach, guide, and build confidence in new clinicians.
She provides one‑on‑one clinical supervision for associate‑level therapists (LAC and LMSW) to earn hours toward independent licensure in Arizona – with empathy, clarity, compassion, and real‑world wisdom.

Hi, I'm Athena! I started Creating Your Balance in 2017. As a licensed counselor and clinical supervisor, I remember what it felt like to be a new therapist carrying the weight of other people's stories and second-guessing myself. The last thing I needed was more judgement or evaluation - my inner critic already takes care of this!!
I truly needed empathic support, consistent structure, and a focus on building a sustainable career. And although the primary focus is on client care, this is our career after all. This future focus on supporting your career, clinical expertise and client base is the focus I have for the whole team.
